Our Staff: Avionics expertise at your service.
Greg Maskell, Managing Director
30 plus years avionics experience. Greg started his career as an apprentice at Avalon, Victoria, building and testing FA-18 fighters, and Nomad aircraft.
In 1989 he moved into the real world, spending 12 years at Moorabbin Airport maintaining piston, turboprop, and jet aircraft. Greg became a LAME that year, gaining his first Electrical and Instrument ratings. He added group 20 ratings to that in 1990, and 1994.
In 2001 Greg moved to Darwin, where he built on radio experience, and added radio licenses to his list.
Returning to Victoria at the end of 2002, Greg spent a year at Essendon Airport maintaining a wide range of fixed wing and helicopter types.
Since 2003 he has resided in Queensland, and has held positions as Chief Engineer for one well known avionics company, and Team Leader in another leading avionics company. Turbine helicopters became a major focus during this time.
In 2011 Greg decided that there was room in the market for a new avionics company, and founded Avisyst.
Ken Weal, Senior LAME
40 plus years avionics experience. Ken began his career in the RNZAF as an Avionic Technician.
He then co-founded an Avionic Workshop in New Zealand before progressing to the Airlines. Ken worked in Western Samoa as Avionic Supervisor and acting Engineering Manager, before moving to Brunei to serve as Acting Line Maintenance Superintendant and Project Engineer. Ken moved to a major Airline in Hong Kong as Maintenance Controller and later as a Line Engineer in Brisbane.
Whilst in Brisbane, Ken returned to GA as Chief Engineer of an Avionic Company based at Redcliffe, followed by a stint in the Whitsundays and back to Brisbane.
Over the years, Ken has gained an extensive list of avionics licences, including Airbus and Boeing heavy iron in addition to all the usual avionics ratings.
Ken joined the team at Avisyst in early 2014, and has been a major asset since then, concentrating mainly on activities at Redcliffe Airport.
